Come see for yourself how a prairie looked long ago. At the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, we will tour the beautiful limestone home that graces the entrance to this prairie preserve. We will also have an opportunity to explore the large barn and other outbuildings on the property. Finally, we will walk to the old schoolhouse to see how children learned in the era of this homestead. After our formal tours are over, feel free to hike all or part of the 10 miles of available trails. You can go to Windmill Pasture and perhaps catch sight of the bison that have recently been reintroduced to the preserve. No study of Kansas history will be complete without a look at how Kansas once was.
