Fall 2008 Field Trips
UNDERGROUND SALT MUSEUM, PICNIC LUNCH & HUTCHINSON ZOO
Go 650 ft. below the earth’s surface to experience the salt mines. You will ride a tram and experience The Dark Ride, dig up your own salt crystals, and explore more than 100,000 sq. ft. in 65 degree temps. (Don’t forget your jackets)

We will have a picnic lunch at Carey Park following the museum. After that, we can go to the Hutchinson Zoo. The details for the zoo are in the process of being confirmed. There is no charge for the zoo.
REGIER APPLE ORCHARD
What is more delicious in the fall than the sweet smell and tasty crispness of juicy apples right off the tree! Come visit this working apple orchard and discover how apples are grown, picked, sorted, and prepared for market. Sample the varieties and have a little cider! Stay after the tour and pick your own apples, if you would like (additional cost per pound).

Come enjoy a fall day as we take a hay ride out to the field and pick our own pumpkins. There are new attractions this year including a corn maze, along with slides, and boat rides on the pond, and other fun attractions.

Each Fall and Spring, Young People’s Concerts are performed for more than 13,000 area students. These 45 minute programs feature the full Wichita Symphony Orchestra, and often utilize other artists, such a dancers, speakers, or singers, to fully illustrate the programs. The concert programs for this Fall and Spring have not yet been determined. You may go to one or both concerts, however you must register and pay for the Fall concert and the Spring concert in the fall. You will not be able to sign up at spring registration for the spring concert. Two dates are listed below, only one will be assigned to CHFM for the Fall and one will be assigned for the Spring. CHFM members will be notified as soon as we receive our placement from the Symphony Orchestra.

Age: Recommended for 3rd through 6th grades
This is a traditional holiday classic performed by the Wichita Children’s Theatre and Dance Center. This hour-long, abridged version of Dickinson’s tale is recommended for children 7 and up.

BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER
A fun show for the whole family, performed by the Wichita Children’s Theater: “A very funny and memorable story that introduces and outrageous family of children who learn the Christmas story and help everyone to rediscover its true meaning.” Recommended for children ages 5 and up, though younger children who can sit attentively for an hour are welcome too.
