Jennifer Allen

Biography: Jennifer Allen holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas and is a Registered Nurse. She also attended Cleveland Chiropractic College before retiring to take on motherhood. Jennifer has also taught Anatomy and Physiololgy to students at Butler County Community College. Jennifer is currently a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom to her two boys, Jake and Jared. Jennifer is married to Dr. Kevin Allen.


Sarah Anderson

Biography: Sarah has a B.S. in Music Education from Calvary Bible College and a Masters in Vocal Performance from Bob Jones University. She has directed middle school choir in a Christian school and has taught private voice on the high school and college levels. Sarah has performed in operas and musicals and has recorded a CD. She recently helped start Christian Youth Theatre in Wichita, and has taught in their summer camp. She and her family attend First Evangelical Free Church, where she and her husband, Richard, both sing on worship team. Her favorite group to sing with, though, is her own family which includes her husband,and their two sons.


Vicky Atkinson

Biography: Vicky holds a BS degree from St. Mary of the Plains College in Elementary Education with minors in Social Studies and English. She taught in the Wichita Public Schools before having children and has taught for 12 years in a homschool co-op as well as homechooling her three daughters; the last one just graduating in May 2011. Vicky’s husband, Phil, is an instrumental music teacher in the Renwick school district and their family attends West Evangelical Free Church.


Laura Bergen

Biography: Laura became her family's second homeschool graduate in May 2005. She is currently pursuing her B.A. in Music Theater from Friends University and will be graduating in May 2009. She has studied ballet, tap and jazz under Megan McDonald, Diane Gans and Sharon Rogers. She has always had a passion for teaching and is so blessed for the opportunity to combine it with her love of dance! She married the love of her life, Justin, in a mountain top ceremony in Colorado on July 7, 2007 and they welcomed their first baby in June 2009. They attend Heartland Community Church and hope to begin serving the Lord through Christian dramas and musicals for homeschool students. Her greatest desire in life is to faithfully serve the Lord and live her life as a testimony of the glorious things He has done for her!


Jennifer Borger

Biography: Jennifer has a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas. She taught in public schools for 4 years before she had children. Jennifer and her family are currently a USAF military family stationed at McConnell AFB where her husband, Bob, serves as one of the chaplains. Both Jennifer and her husband have been trained with the Navigators and have served as church planting missionaries with the North American Mission Board. She is blessed with two children, Emily and Nate.


Kay Brinkman

Biography: Kay graduated from the University of Hawaii with a bachelor degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Eduction and got a Special Education masters degree from the University of Oregon. She taught at a private school, 2 years in a Montessori school, and English conversation classes to Japanese students from 6 years to 85 years of age in a variety of educational settings. She met her Kansas husband Bruce, in Japan when they were both singles helping Japan's Navigator collegiate ministries. Kay has been homeschooling for 15 years and has two sons; 19 and 11 years old. We are all involved at Heartland Community Church.


Karen Brummer

Biography: Kay has been married to her best friend Scott Brummer for almost 17 years. They feel so blessed to have seven children. Kay went to Oklahoma Baptist University for two years and then transferred to Friends University, graduating with a Biology major and a Chemisty minor in 1994. For the last couple of years Kay worked in civil law as a paralegal in medical malpractice, and had the privilege of working with her father, a prosecuting attorney, in a major trial. She recently retired from that to spend more time with her family and to be able to home school. Kay taught Biology at CHFM in the past and really enjoyed it. Kay hopes to help students be able to defend their faith to the unbeliever; she says creation is foundational and science points to the Creator.


Steve Brummer

Biography: Steve Brummer grew up in Wichita and has served as a worship pastor at Central Christian Church for 17 years. Prior to working with the church, Steve traveled with a ministry team for four years, where he also learned at the age of 20, to start playing guitar. Over the years, Steve has had a passion to teach others guitar, and has done classes at the church. Steve has been married 12 years to his wife, Lisa and has two girls, Allison and Emma.


Crystal Cole

Biography: After graduating from High School, Crystal spent two years traveling the United States with CHOICE Lifestyle Ministry. She was part of a team that used drama, music, and testimony to share the gospel both in the schools and in churches. She also worked for four years with Sherri McCready and the Children of Light youth drama group at Central Christian Church. She has been a member of Central for many years and currently enjoys being a part of the Saturday night worship band. She is married to Dan and she stays home with her three young children.


Colleen Cox

Biography: Colleen attended Grace College of the Bible, Omaha, for two years before receiving a BS degree in Office Administration from Fort Hays State University. She has enjoyed working with young children through various church ministries, including 15 years so far of teaching Kindergarten Sunday School. For as long as she can remember, she’s had the desire to be a stay-at-home wife and mother, and is grateful to God for allowing her to live out her dream. She has been married to David since 1995, and they have been blessed with two girls. They attend First Evangelical Free Church.


Corina Dodson

Biography: Corina began serving children when she was 10 years old. She was lead teacher in a classroom of twenty little four year olds for 2 years. She has done child care in her home for 22 years. Children are one of the many joys in Corina's life. Corina has three children, Derrick, Briana, and Ashton. She has been blessed with the privilege of being a homeschooling mom for 17 years. Her two oldest children graduated in 2005. Her youngest will be a freshman in High School in the Fall. She has been married to her best friend Jeff for 23 years. Corina and her family attend Weslyan Holiness Alliance Church.


Amy Dohm

Biography: Amy has a degree in Physical Education from Missouri State University. She has home schooled her 5 children the last 17 years. Amy is married to Paul, who works at Central Christian Church as Executive Director of His Helping Hands.


Felicia Doll

Biography: Felicia has a BS in Art and Math Education from Friends University. Felicia enjoyed starting an art program in the Rose Hill public schools, teaching Pre-K through sixth grade for 10 years before becoming a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom. Felicia and her husband Randy have three daughters, and are members of Central Christian Church.


Silvia Goddard

Biography: Silvia is originally from Guatemala and currently works at Central Christian Church as the Executive Assistant for Ministries. Silvia has taught the Spanish language to elementary, middle, and high school students in enrichment programs in Indiana and Texas. She has been married to her husband Paul for 26 years. They originally met when both were working for World Vision International (WVI). Silvia was in charge of Childcare ministries for several countries in Latin America for WVI and worked in their regional office in Costa Rica and international headquarters in California. Silvia and Paul have three grown children (Paul Jr., Paula, and David) and an 11 year-old (Michael) still at home. She has the equivalent of a four-year degree in business from a private university in Guatemala and has completed university classes in both business and early childhood education in the U.S. Silvia is currently finishing her BA degree in business from Colorado Technical University online.


Rachel Grebe

Biography: Rachel Grebe holds B.A. degrees in Psychology and German from Kansas State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the KSU Honors Program. She is blessed with three wonderful daughters, whom she has joyfully taught at home since 2002. In her "former life", she enjoyed singing in choirs, performing in musicals, and teaching preschool for the U.S. Army and Central Christian Academy Preschool. She has been happily married to Dieter for almost 20 years, and loves reading, gardening, and strength training. The family attends Heartland Community Church.


Wendy Hoover

Biography: Wendy Hoover- She is a graduate of Liberty University with a B.S. in General Studies and she also obtained her Teacher's License for Elementary Education. Wendy has taught various age groups in private school/church settings for five years and has been homeschooling for 3 years. She began learning Sign Language as a sophomore in high school and furthered her education in Deaf History, Interpreting, and ASL at Cowley County Community College. She has used her signing skills in volunteer and professional capacities, some of which include interpreting for church services and interpreting for deaf students in college classes. Wendy feels that sign language can also be used as a beautiful visual expression of worship when partnered with music. Jonathan and Wendy have been married for nine years and have two beautiful girls, Cheyenne and Summer. They attend NewSpring Church where Jonathan is the Associate Pastor and Couples Pastor.


Jaxon Keimig

Biography: Jaxon began doing pottery as a student at West High School in Wichita. He has continued, as time permitted, through the years. February 1, 2010, he retired from Sara Lee Bread Company, and began doing pottery as a full-time hobby/career. Jaxon took several classes in pottery at the Wichita Center for the Arts, under Dan Gegen. He has taught classes to children and adults for the past 4 years, as well as making things from clay for himself, family, and friends. He and his wife, Shirley who is also retired, live 4 miles north of Douglass, KS.


JW Kirby

Biography: J recently retired from a long career in computer programming. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Math from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He enjoys traveling as well as staying home doing things with his family, which includes his 14 grandchildren. He also enjoys watching Shocker baseball, NCAA football and basketball as well as playing chess. He has taught most of his grandchildren how to play the game of chess simply by playing with them. He is looking forward to the challenge of teaching chess in the classroom. J and his wife, Marilyn, have been married for 45 years, and are members of the Central Church of Christ.


Dana Klaassen

Biography: Dana received a B.A. in Communications from the Elliott School of Communications at Wichita State University. In addition to currently maintaining marketing and events clients, Dana's past work has included non-profit sector public relations and marketing. Besides a new-found love of homeschooling, as a first-year homeschool mom, she enjoys scrapbooking, exercise and family time activities. The Klaassen family attends River Community Church.


Charlotte Kliewer

Biography: Charlotte graduated from Furman University in South Carolina with a BA in Education with the hope that one day she would homeschool her own children. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She has taught in Texas and Derby public schools, at Central Christian Academy , and in a Baptist seminary in Brazil. Charlotte is also an Academic Language Therapist and has tutored students of various ages. Homeschooling her three sons has been one of her most rewarding experiences in life. She is married to Cameron, a teacher in the Derby school district, and they are actively involved at Heartland Community Church.


Phyllis McAdam

Biography: Phyllis has a background in Educational Administration in Northern Ireland where she worked in accounting and finance for 10 years before moving to Montreal, Quebec and then to Wichita. She has qualifications in Business Studies and a Post Graduate Diploma in Administration and Legal Studies from the University of Ulster, Belfast, Northern Ireland. She and her husband, William, have four children whom they homeschool. The McAdams attend Northside Bible Chapel.


Rebecca Melton

Biography: Rebecca is a business owner, homeschool mother of three children, and has been for married 15 years. She has fallen in love with history since she began homeschooling. She believes history can be fun and interactive.


Darla Mill

Biography: Darla is the wife to Jason and the mom of five blessings. These two positions take up most of her time but she also loves teaching science, gardening, cooking, and reading. She also enjoys encouraging families in their homeschool endeavors. She has a Bachelor of General Science from Wichita State with emphases in biology, history and psychology. Their family attends church at Calvary Family.


Kathy Morris

Biography: Kathy has a B.S. in Psychology from Kansas State University and Masters of Education in Counseling from the University of Dayton. She has worked previously in Family Counseling as well as full-time Youth Ministry. Since marriage, Kathy has been actively involved in teaching high school Bible Studies for young and adult women. She has been married to Jeff since 1991 and has four children. Kathy has been involved with various ministries through her church, Heartland Community Church.


Becky Nangle

Biography: Becky earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M in Nutritional Science, which also included extensive classes in Chemistry and Biology. She taught for two years at Derby Christian School where she gained experience teaching all sciences, 7th grade Science through Chemistry and Physics using the Bob Jones and Abeka curriculum. She has taught highschool science for CHFM since 1998. Becky is married to Jeff, a Mechanical Engineer with Airbus. They have six children and the family attends church at Central Christian.


Sherry Nygaard

Biography: Sherry is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. God has blessed Sherry and her husband, Scott, with five wonderful children. She has enjoyed homeschooling for 16 years and treasures the time it gives her with her children. Sherry, Scott and their family attend Central Christian Church.


Denise Oldland

Biography: Denise has a B.S. in Chemical-Petroleum Refining Engineering with a minor in Environmental Science from the Colorado School of Mines. She worked previously in the treatment of waste from utilities and military installations. Denise has directed and taught classes for minority high school students to encourage them to pursue technical professions. She is active in children’s ministries. Denise enjoys helping people find wonder in this world and how their special skills can be challenged and improved. Her learning really began in earnest with homeschooling her three children. Denise is married to Paul and their family attends Chapel Hill Fellowship.


Andrew Olsen

Biography: Andrew is a 2008 high-school graduate and has initiated Freshman year studies at Regent University, he was home-schooled from kindergarten. He enjoys volunteering for various political campaigns. In his Junior and Senior years in high-school Andrew competed in the NCFCA, in Team Policy debate partnered with his sister Bethany. In his Senior year he also competed in several speech events including Apologetics, Impromptu, Persuasive speaking, and Extemporaneous. Andrew was the recipient of several speaker awards, including 11th place speaker at the 2008 Virginia National Open. He has cleared to out-rounds at several NCFCA tournaments, including the 2008 NCFCA Virginia National Open and the 2008 Region 9 Regional Championship. He attends New Horizon Holiness Church.

Pam Rivera

Biography: After earning a science degree in psychology, Pam felt the Lord calling her to work with children and furthered her education with a degree in elementary education. She had the privilege of working for Wichita Public Schools for 7 years before she was able to stay home with her two-year-old son. She ran an in-home daycare, continuing to work with children, until she began homeschooling full time. Pam now has a nine-year-old son, Jace; a five-year-old boy, Jordan; and a three-year-old little girl, Jodee. She feels incredibly honored to work with children through CHFM and to partner with parents whose hearts are also for their little children, rewards from our Father. Pam's family enjoys bike riding, cooking and baking, and generally just playing together. Pam feels that every day she grows deeper with the Lord as every day she sees just how much she needs Him in her journey as wife, mother and teacher.


Jan Ryel

Biography: Jan holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from Kansas State University. She worked as a research scientist from 1994-1998 before staying at home and homeschooling her children. Jan also teaches third grade Sunday School class and is a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. She is married to Marshall and has three children.


Kris Sayler

Biography: Kris has a Bachelor's degree in nursing and has worked as a nurse for 15 years. The last 8 years have been spent working on a mother-baby unit at Wesley Medical Center. Having had a secret desire to teach since she was young, it has been her pleasure to have the opportunity to teach her children at home. She and her husband John have four children and are members of River Community Church.


Melissa Scapa

Biography: Melissa has a B.S. in Psychology from Friends University and a M.A. in Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. She has taught and/or tutored math students for 14 years, from Elementary math up through College Algebra. The daughter of an excellent educator, she learned early on that every student learns differently, and that a positive outlook makes a huge difference on educational success. Desiring to pass on a love of learning and a positive, "can-do" attitude in every course she teaches, Melissa looks forward to once again working with CHFM families. She and her husband Brian, a realtor, have one delightful son who is a blessing to be around. The Scapa family attends Central Christian Church, where Brian is a long-time high school youth sponsor and Melissa is co-leader of Glory Babies, a ministry that walks with women through the journey of miscarriage and stillbirth.

Heather Smith

Biography: Heather graduated from Augusta High School in 1992 and graduated from Wichita State University in 1996 with a Major in Spanish. She has been on several short term, overseas missions trips (Mexico, Paraguay, England and New Orleans during Mardi Gras 6 times) and loves "working" for the Lord. She has ALWAYS wanted to be a wife and a mommy and married her best friend in June of 1995. Her husband, Shelby, also has a Spanish Major and a Business Minor. God is so good all the time and has blessed their marriage with 7 wonderful gifts – Ellis, Mason, Merritt, Olivia, Paisley, Remington, and Scarlett. Something was stirring inside when her oldest was 4 and she decided that homeschooling would be the best for them. Everyday is an adventure and is certainly never boring - but she wouldn't want it any other way.


Trudy Souba

Biography: Trudy graduated from Friends University in 2004 with a BFA in Ballet and a minor in English. She trained at Rogers Ballet and with the Friends U Ballet Department. Beginning in college Trudy has taught ballet to students of all ages, levels, and intents at vaious studios. Following college she danced with the San Diego Ballet for two years. Trudy moved back to Wichita to marry her love, Matt Souba. They have two adorable sons, Linkon and Dominik. Realizing the importance of spending more time with her wonderful family, she recently has traded in her "9-5 job" for teaching ballet at Midwest Dance Mechanix and opening a pool business, The Pool Crew, with her husband and close friend. She is so blessed to have these new experiences in life and to be adding the relationship with CHFM.


Kay Spangler

Biography: Kay Spangler has been enjoying the blessings of homeschooling her own four girls for 18 years. She is down to teaching just one now and is seeing the light at the end of her tunnel. She has a B.S. in Biology from Wichita State and enjoys helping students get excited about science. However, she has enjoyed watching CHFM students grow in their communication skills for the past few years, first as a parent helper then as the teacher in the Forensics class. The challenges of coordinating and teaching a larger group of students has been enjoyable. Her goal for the Forensics and Public Speaking classes is to help train the next generation to be effective communicators for Christ by becoming skilled public speakers.

Susan Warner

Biography: Susan holds a BS in mathematics from Friends University. Susan has taught all high school level math through advanced placement calculus. She is married to Kevin and is the mother of three children whom she homeschools. The family attends Cornerstone Christian Church.


Rachael Warrington

Biography: Rachael is the current Food Service Manager of CCA and loves her job. She has found a real love in teaching children about food; the taste, the feel, and what to do with it. Rachael also believe in teaching children how to buy, prepare, and enjoy the food God has sent before us. Rachael's husband is a science teache at Trinity, and she is a mom to three teenagers, at three different schools! Food is a constant issue in their house. Rachael believes in putting a meal on the table for her family.


Tina Wheeler

Biography: Tina received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Friends University. She has had the benefit of teaching all ages and grade levels. Most of her career was in the Wichita public school system. In addition to teaching her three sons, Tina has taught water classes at the YMCA for 12 years. Besides teaching, she enjoys swimming, singing and traveling. The Wheeler family attends Metro East Baptist Church.


Kimberly Whiteside

Biography: Kimberly Whiteside has an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Butler Community College. She home schooled her two oldest children for two years. She is currently working as a substitute teacher for the Andover School District and has tutored Biology, Algebra, Algebra II, and Geometry. In addition, Kimberly has traveled throughout Southern India, with the India Gospel League, teaching bible classes at various women’s conferences. Kimberly and her husband Mel have been married 20 years and have 4 children. They attend Hope Community Church and are active in ministry there.


Dawn Willcox

Biography: Dawn Willcox holds degrees in both teaching and behavioral science. She also has minor degrees in Literature, History and Grammar. Her family boasts of four wonderful children, whom have been homeschooled, all their lives. Dawn has taught literature classes for public schools as well as private homeschool organizations. She has been president of several homeschool co-op groups as well as a state convention speaker for the past 10 years. Dawn has taught Writing and Literature classes for CHFM for the past 7 years. Dawn has many delights--but, few rank as high as teaching with passion. She and her family attend Christ's Bible Church and live in a lovely yellow house in Hutchinson, where it is Christmas every day.


Deb Wolters

Biography: Deb holds a BS in Business from Emporia State University, worked outside of the home for 15 years before staying at home with her son to offer child care for the past 7 years. She is fun-loving, organized and creative and comes from a dairy farm background (as well as a silent marketer for the Pretty Prairie Rodeo(3rd weekend in July.every year). Her family is active at the Church of the Resurrection as she teaches 2nd Grade Religion, welcomes new members and leads stewardship efforts. Her passion is her family, Barney and son Jonah, and she loves to enjoy life, play cards & games, and to laugh hysterically whenever possible!
